Sitzbook Review: “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini

Hi everyone! In the next few days I'll post a few really short quotes and reviews of books from last year's Sitzbook book-a-week project. I originally started about a half-dozen posts with a few notes from some of the books I was reading, but I ran out of time and never actually wrote the full posts. So these will be like lightning reviews. First up is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I liked the book, much as I liked The Kite Runner a few years ago, also by Hosseini. The story Read more [...]

The Good Ol’ Days Weren’t Always Good…

In my last post I talked about nostalgia in the form of Billy Joel's song "Keeping The Faith." Coincidentally, Angela recently put this picture up below my computer monitor: God knows where she found it. We do joke that we're incredibly lucky we didn't meet each other when we were 15 years old, though, since neither of us was in any type of prime at that age. September 2014 Pictures of the Day

Hi everyone! Blogtoberfest is still going strong! I like it because I feel pushed to actually get my act together, and today's no exception. As a note, if you want to see the pictures of Will, please add me on flickr as a friend or family, since I'll be making pictures of him private soon. Thanks, and thanks for reading Read more [...]

A To Z Song Project Done!

I mentioned at the beginning of the year that I had different projects going on, and that one of them was to continue listening to all my songs from A-Z on iTunes. Well, I finally did it! I know, it's kind of a stupid project, but I only really did it when I was on my computer, since that's where iTunes is. Still, I started it on April 14, 2013 and finally finished it nearly a year and a half later. I also got to hear some good music while working, so it was a winning situation for me. I guess Read more [...]

Three Videos With Horses Running In Slow Motion

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of horses. I don't dislike them, either, but I'm just not into them. I'm glad they exist but if I went through life without riding one, I'd probably be fine. Having said that, I noticed recently that they're often deployed in movies and videos as magnificent beasts. Take these three music videos. Here's one by 38 Special. I came across it when writing a post on Sitzman ABC about the third conditional tense: As evidence that it's not just limited to 80s Read more [...]
