Sitzbook Review: “Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention” by Manning Marable

The Blogtoberfest train keeps partying along in a tornado of words and mixed metaphors! Today I have a short post talking about June's book, Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention by Manning Marable. Ever since I read The Autobiography of Malcolm X when I was about 20, I've been a big fan of the man. I'm probably not (OK, definitely not) within his target demographic when he was alive, but I just think he was a fascinating man. The whole series of transitions he made throughout his life were compelling to Read more [...]

Sitzbook Review: “Cooked” by Michael Pollan

Wow, I just realized how out of practice I am when it comes to writing blog posts, especially book reviews! Um,... hello? Welcome to this blog...site? Here's a book thing? OK, let's start over. I'm obviously very behind on a lot of things, and book reviews is one of those things. I read this book back in February for my Sitzbook project. I'm not sure if I'll actually get that done, at least without combining a bunch of books, but I'm still going to try. And since I need to start Read more [...]

Books, Pictures, and Butts

It's easy to see that I've not been posting to this blog much lately. The main reason is that I thought it would be a clever idea to change the domain name for this blog to just sitzblog.com. That was possibly a good idea, but what wasn't necessarily a good idea was changing three other website domains at the same time. I'm still working on sitzmanabc.com and ryansitzman.com, but fortunately cinematicattic.com has been up and running for a long time (but it was also less complicated). I'll post Read more [...]
